And the Rainbow Award goes to...

Winners:

1) Leaning Into the Fall (Leaning Into Stories #2) Lane Hayes
Bisexual - Erotic Romance
Series: Leaning Into Stories
Paperback: 282 pages
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform; 1 edition (March 12, 2017)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 154466639X
ISBN-13: 978-1544666396
Amazon: Leaning Into the Fall (Leaning Into Stories #2) Lane Hayes

1) I really admire the way Lane Hayes develops her characters. They grow on the page, not only for the reader--as we get to know them--but as living, breathing beings. By the end of Leaning into the Fall, I felt I'd actually spent time with Nick and Wes. I was as invested in their relationship as they were. I loved their conversations, even when they were arguing. I could hear their voices. So when these two got it together, it felt real--as did their heartache and eventual joy.
2) The characters were amazing. Nick with his social disorder and Wes with his infinite patience. I also liked the pace and the winery setting. This was a really good book.

2) A Kind of Honesty (A Kind of Stories #3) Lane Hayes
Bisexual - Erotic Romance
Series: A Kind of Stories
Paperback: 240 pages
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (October 7, 2016)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1634777859
ISBN-13: 978-1634777858
Amazon: A Kind of Honesty (A Kind of Stories #3) Lane Hayes

1) I loved how the respective settings were used to emphasize the events that took place there, as well as the social gap between the main characters. Also, the use of music/ rhythm to accentuate Tim's struggles was very cleverly done. Great job. The elements of this story just fit together. The music industy background actually served a purpose here instead of being mere prop, the main characters were as real as a fictional rockstar and a fictional multi-bilionaire finance mogul can ever be, and the conflicts they had to deal with, both internal and external, didn't require too much suspension of disbelief. On top of that, the writing was smooth and well-paced. A really enjoyable read.
2) A Kind of Honesty is less plot-driven, more a journey of self-discovery, and it works so well. Tim comes across as a fairly candid sort of guy, someone who has few secrets. But he's not entirely honest with himself and hasn't been for most of his life - and being in the music industry only helps him maintain that divide. It's only when he meets Carter - who is supposed to be a casual affair - that he realizes the two halves of himself are so out of line. And so he has to work to pull all of it together and that's hard, for anyone. That's what I enjoyed most about this book. I loved the romance and the banter between the guys, but Tim's journey was beautifully realized.

Runner Up:

3) Get a Grip (A Bluewater Bay Story #19) by L.A. Witt

Finalists:

4) Pounding Skin (Skin Deep Inc.) by L.A. Witt
5) Gnarly (World of Love) by Mickie B. Ashling
