And the Rainbow Award goes to...

Winners:

1) Aqua Follies Liv Rancourt
Gay - Historical Romance
Paperback: 262 pages
Publisher: Liv Rancourt; 1 edition (May 12, 2017)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0998582239
ISBN-13: 978-0998582238
Amazon: Aqua Follies Liv Rancourt

1) Liv Rancourt's dedication to a true historical narrative is so evident here. Her characters are so authentic. The 1950s must have been a difficult time to be gay, yet she doesn't go for the easy angst. These guys want something more. They know there is an easy way out, but they're willing to risk the fallacy of a normal life to reach for something better. That positive note was sorely needed against what could have been, and I was glad the author focused on that.
2) This 1950's historical had a great atmosphere of the era, and the main characters felt realistic for the time and place in which they lived. The romance started fast, but faced some plausible obstacles. I loved Skip from the start, and came to appreciate Russell over the span of the story.
3) Unique setting, sympathetic characters, and difficult situations make for a page-turning male-male romance set in the 1950’s. Very enjoyable!
4) I think this is the best book I’ve read this year. It had the right mixture of tenderness and angst, rawness and loving.

2-tie) Selina Kray Stoker & Bash: The Fangs of Scavo
Gay - Historical Romance
Series: Stoker & Bash (Book 1)
Paperback: 368 pages
Publisher: Selina Kray; First edition edition (May 29, 2017)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0995992517
ISBN-13: 978-0995992511
Amazon: Selina Kray Stoker & Bash: The Fangs of Scavo

1) The last of the books I read, and it SERIOUSLY deserves an award!!! Not only did the writing take my breath away, but also the thrilling conflict, romance, and mystery kept me up at night. Complex characters Kip and Heiro are alive and well in my imagination ... and in my heart.
2) A Victorian romp with excellent historical details, action-adventure, and engrossing characters.
3) I had the pleasure of buying the book earlier in the year and was captivated by the characters and the plot. I am looking forward to reading more in the series.

2-tie) Swift for the Sun Karen Bovenmyer

1) This was a fantastic book that was so vivid I almost felt like I was actually there in the story.
2) This was an interesting story. I liked the way the characters grow during the story. A must for those that like historicals.
3) An engrossing tale of survival and love against the backdrop of slavery, freedom, and the search for happiness.
