Bella-Sophia is a beautiful woman who chose to do a man job; she coaches a college football team and she is also very good at it and has all the right credentials. But as expected, she had to overcome all the prejudice which seems derived only by the fact that she wasn't a man. Now, thanks to the foresight of an old coach, she coaches at college level and she is happy, but she has repressed her femininity... oh, she is still a beautiful woman, and every man can notice that, but she dresses like a man and avoids all the little details who pleases a woman, like jewelry and make up.

Wulf is a former German professional soccer player who was hired to coach the soccer team in the same college. He is a big man with pleasant behavior and old style gallantry. From the first time he meets Bella-Sophia, he decides that he is more interested in the woman than in the coach. Not that he underestimates her proveness at work, but he is not interested in it: Bella-Sophia can be the most successful football coach of USA, but when she ends her work day, she has to go back home to him and only him.

The story is not very long, less than 100 pages, but flows smoothly. The style is a bit more tamed than other books I read by the same pair of authors, actually, even if there are two or three quite strong words scattered in the book, there is only an actual sex scene, and even if it is pretty enthusiastic, it is more unbalanced in the funny side than in the erotic one. All in all I found this one lighter and funnier than the previous books.

What remains of the previous experience I had with Johnson and Leigh, is a very strong Afro American female character and a even stronger white male character, the type of male who still opens the door the his woman but it's male enough to not be intimidated if she has a life of her own.

Hot Like Fire is a mix of tradition and innovation. Tradition cause it's the story of our everyday woman, strong and interesting, but not overwhelming beautiful, who finds the perfect man who will love her forever and will treat her like a goddess. Innovation cause it's pretty hot and erotic and sex is very good but it's also almost hard-core.

Samson and Mariana meets in a dream resort, and from the first time he sees her, Samson knows to have found the woman of his life. He only has to convince Mariana of the same thing, and overcome the fear she has of not being enough "woman" to satisfy her man.

Samson, our hero, maybe is not a man you can find in real life, cause he is too perfect. He is rich and hansome, 6 feet and 9 inches tall, long black hair, father from Portugal and Native American mother, he can see past the phisycal appearance of a woman to her soul. And he is also so sure of himself, that he doesn't fear to display his alpha behaviour.

Mariana is a woman who needs to be loved and needs reassureance on her feminine side. She is a tought woman, but she needs an even tougher man to her side. Mariana is like a lot of modern woman, who wants to be independent, but who also likes to have a Man, with M capital letter, who is not afraid to stay with a woman like her.

Sex is very hot. I'd like to think possible to ever find a such intimacy, but if maybe it's difficult to find in real life, it's good to be able to read it in a book. I have no problem to say that Hot Like Fire has touched so many soft spots in me, cause it talks truth to many women like me.

Taken (Dark Elves 1) by Jet Mykles

So yesterday night for the first time I took in hand this book by Jet Mykles. I know her for her M/M story, which I like very much (Heaven Sent series, Snagged and Tech Support) but I know she is very famous also for this series. I was not sure, but a friend of mine ([info]naanbld) has convinced me and so...

The Dark Elves are strong and black creatures made by a goddess for her pleasure. But then the goddess has to leave and she said to her "baby" to go out the wood and take human women to procreate. A women can be impregnate only by a Dark Elves, so every Dark Elf can stay nine days with the woman and try to impregnate her. If he fails, the woman pass to another Dark Elf.

Diana and Gara are two of these women. They are opposite: Gara is gentle and shy, she is ready to adapt to her new life. And fortunately she soon finds her truemate. But Diana is a woman warrior, strong and proud and she doesn't want to leave the command of her life in the hands of a man she has not choosen. So she fights and bite and spit... but she can't deny the sexual pleasure she feels in the arms of these men. Then Salin sees her fight on the arena and he decides he has to have her: he feels she could be his truemate and he will do everything it takes to convince that woman.

A very interesting erotic romance. Diana and Salin are born warriors and it is interesting to see they fight to gain control until they discover that in love and sex there no control...

A Few Good Men by Cat Johnson

andrew potter
How do you imagine an erotic romance writer? Sexy, gorgeous and uninhibited? Or better plain jane type, petite and single? Maybe the answer is simple cause a bombshell can't have the time to write romance and instead plain jane yes, so Maureen, our heroine, is a white collar by day and a writer by night. She has also a tender heart and a pen pal, a soldier stationed in Iraq. She writes to him and sends him gifts and goodies and also her latest book: a romance only for women but Jazzy, the soldier, reads it and likes it and passes it to his mates. And Maureen, better Summer, her pen name, becames a legend among the men. John, Jazzy's boss, images her like an old granny with kinky thought. But then he has to write her about an accident occurs to Jazzy and they start a steamy online relationship. An ocean and a war separate them, but hope never dies...

This is the "classic" romance: Maureen is sweet and a dreamer, she dreams the perfect man. She is maybe like a lot of modern women, charming but not stunning, clever but not a genius, nice but not overwhelming... in other words she is the typical woman that you must have the time to appreciate, a quick date of a night is not enough. John is not a man of strong passion: oh, he is passionate, when he decides that he has found the right woman, but she has to be THE RIGHT one. But he is somewhat the last romantic on earth: he can fall in love without never meeting his lover.

Another "classical" side of the romance is the "crescendo" plot: the love between the two characters starts fast in the beginning of the book to grow slowly afterwards till the hot happily ever after ending; a right dose of "hot" candy in the middle maintain hight the attention of the reader, but not fully satiate him till the end.

This is a book that appeals to who wants to read about sweet romance and good feelings, who believes in the happy end and in the true love, and maybe who has an old fashioned way of think.

The book will be out on July 1 from Linden Bay Romance

Amazon: A Few Good Men

Three by Lisa Andel, TA Chase & Bonnie Dee

andrew potter

I'll be waiting this anthology: these are three authors I like very much.

Three, like three authors and like threesome. In this anthology we read three possible way to lead a threesome.

Tia's Leash by Lisa Andel (M/F/M): Tia is an half-breed werewolf. For three quarter human, she can't change in a wolf and she lives among the pack only because the new alpha, Mason, has not killed her when she was a puppy. But now there is a problem, she goes into season one a month and not only two/three time in a year like the other she weres and even if this is a joy for the men of the pack, the women want her dead. So the alpha decides to confine her in a cottage outside the pack territory. Tia for the first time in her life has the chance to meet other people than the packs members. And in particular two men, among the all men she makes sex to, holds her attention: Risk, an handsome vampire, and Briggs, an alluring were panther. But the pack is not happy to share Tia. In the end we have a threesome, yes, but this story is all about Tia: men here are only supporting characters. It's funny and irriverent, and only in the end you will have your savvy words: sex without feeling is only a gym exercise. But if you want and you find someone willing, why not try?

Two for One by TA Chase (M/M/M): Jack is new in the city. He is shy and plain and doesn't think he has the right chance to draw a nice guy, so why is he at Pretty Young Thing, a gay club? Then Brady approach him and after a mind shattering kiss drags him in a dark corner where he introduces Jack to Simon, his partner. And without much words, Simon and Brady involve Jack in a hot sex session. But why two handsome men like Simon and Brady want Jack? They seem pretty committed and have a wonderful life, a fifteen year relationship... But they need balance. Simon is a classic alpha male, strong and stubborn. Brady is more easy and open, but also stubborn and inflammable. They need someone in their life that bring a cold breeze, a gentle voice and a tender hand. They need Jack.

Awakening by Bonnie Dee (M/F/F): Melissa has a big crush on Michael, a colleague she has never had the courage to speak with. And one night, returning home, she finds Michael in bed with Rachel, her roommate. She thinks her world is crashing down, but then Rachel is up with a shocking proposal: why don't they all three share a wicked weekend knowing better each other, in and out of bed? and not only Michael with Melissa, and Rachel with Michael, but also Rachel with Melissa... because Rachel is not against the idea to have sex with Melissa, she is very willing to try. But Melissa is not so sure, she doesn't like to share. But as the weekend goes on, Melissa is ever more enthralled by Rachel, maybe more than Michael himself. In this romance I have the feeling that the women have stolen the scene to the only poor man...

An interesting anthology, with three different point of view of a threesome: Lisa Andel thinks that the real committment is among two and the third can be a friend with benefits. TA Chase thinks to a threesome like a way to complete a quite perfect relationship. Bonnie Dee thinks it is a way to unleash your secret fantasies. All of them together and you have a beautiful anthology.

Naomi is a newly divorced event planner who has decided to unveal her inner tiger. She is tired to be used by men and now her life will be different... but then she meets Royce, a multimillionar hunk who says he loves her and wants to marry her. What a bastard, isn't he?

Royce is the perfect man: rich, handsome, gentle, clever... you really can hate him, too perfect!

Naomi instead is not so perfect: average beautiful, no a success working girl, not very rich... you really can hate her, too imperfect!

Instead you have a chick lit romance light and funny, to read without stress. The plot line is "classical", cinderella meets prince charming, but the supporting characters are original, I like very much the parents of Naomi.

Desperate Seduction by Alyssa Brooks

  • May. 11th, 2007 at 7:02 PM
andrew potter
Claire is a 29 years old virgin accountant. Her life seems perfect: a good job, a beautiful house and a perfect best friend, gentle and handsome, to go out and talk. But not sex. There is no sex in her life, and she still thinks there is time for it.

But then her doctor says her that, maybe, she has little chance to get pregnant, and if she wants to, it would be better soon. So she goes to her best friend, Blake, and ask him to makes love to her.

But Blake is not the first time that thinks to her and sex togheter, but he has kinky taste when it come to sex: he likes to bond his partner, and to spank her and... many other things. And he is not sure Claire can be the woman for him. So he makes a pact: three days as his slave and then he will decide if he will give a baby to her and also marry her. And Claire accept.

Claire and Blake are matched characters. No much trouble in their life, they don't have dark secret or fear to overcome. They face the life with boldness and reckless.

There a funny mix of kink and tradition in this romance. Claire is a virgin with secret fantasies. Blake wants to make sex in every way but doesn't want to give her a child without marriage. They make kinky sex but not too kinky... At the end it is a really "fresh" romance, that can be read also by someone who has more traditional taste.

The Warrior's Gift by Bonnie Dee

  • May. 9th, 2007 at 10:38 PM

Katya lives in a fantasy medieval world where villagers are protected by the Guardians, and the Guardians use Warriors to rule. The Warriors are men held in captvity by the Guardians and use for breeding. Every year a girl from the village is chosen and the village "gifts" her to the destinated Warrior.

This year is chosen Katya and her Warrior will be Turan. But Katya discovers that Turan is like an overgrown child, the Guardians forbid him all, and he nows only how to fight. And when he has the chance to be in contact with Katya it is his first contact with a woman. Katya will teach him how to love and how to make sex.

Katya is smart and young: she sees white and black, she can't live in captivity. Turan is a simple soul, he wants to live with Katya, everywhere; but he is willingly to try to help her. Even if Turan is a big man and Katya is a tiny thing, it is Katya who is the stronger character.

The sex scene are fresh and often: fresh cause the two has to learn how to make sex and often because they do it everytime they could! But they are enjoyable and simple, very in line with the atmosphere and the characters.

Also the end is coherent with the story, with some open point that are justify from the previous event.

Child of Light (Prophecy 1) by F.E. Heaton

Prophecy is a young vampire holds like a tresure by her family. She isn't allowed to go hunting alone, but one night she managed to escape.

And after her first killing she meets Valentine, a vampire of the Family enemy of her own. Valentine is immediately attracted to this young woman and couldn't obey to the order to kill her. Instead he kidnaps her and the two begin a journey all around Europe.

Prophecy is reckless and rush, she is too young for thinking before acting. Valentine is more wiser, but he is not an impositive character, he not overwhelms Prophecy.

The atmosphere is gothic, also for the chose of the characters, but also for the setting (like Prague). The imaginary is vivid and original. The novel is long but manages to hold you till the end. And it is not an end, cause the story of Prophecy and Valentine continues in the next installment "Caelestis & Aurorea", just out.

In a paranormal panorama who has witnessed all, the first novel by F.E. Heaton still has a savour of freshness and originality.

But Angela can't possible believe Rory's interest be real, and treats him like one of her sons, even if her desire grown deeper.

And then Rory persuades Angela of his love, but real life is behind the corner to struck them...

A very interesting story who begins lightly and ends wih a tinge of drama; the authors deals well and in a realistic way with a plot not so simple.

From This Beloved Hour by Willa Lambert

This for me is a very strange reading, since maybe last time I read an harlquin was 15 years ago.

But I read this one cause Willa Lambert is the "woman" pen name of William Maltese and I know that he is rewriting it in M/M version (title Gold Sands), so I want to read both version to better notice the diversity.

Jenny Mowry is a 29 years old virgin archaeologist. She is in Egypt to work with Peter Donas, an older archaeologist, who happen to be also an handsome man and the grandson of the lover of the Jenny's gradmother, a clandestin affair ended with the tragic death of the woman.

So when they fall in love, Jenny is sure their love will not survive and she finds every excuse to not believe in the sincerity of Peter. Plus she is wooing by Abdul, an handsome sheikh. And Jenny is jelaous of Peter because he spends his spare time with another female... a beautiful female of peregrine hawk!!!

This is a novel that alternate funny moment to tragedy, all mixed up to give us a story that, after 25 years, is still fresh and enjoyable.

Atlanta (The Wild Wild Mess 1) by Jayha Leigh

  • Mar. 20th, 2007 at 10:29 PM

What happen when a afro-american southern woman meet an viking-french berserker man? Do you think a lot of wild wild sex? And you are wrong. It happens that the six feet seven inches 250 pounds berserker recognize his soul-mate and starts a six long and tender wooing to convince a stubborn woman that he is the Man, and not only another man.

Atlanta is a thirty years old self made woman with a passion for sports. She own a sports bar and she has a food life. She has no need for a man, unless he is the Man. And when she meet Steele, she falls at first sight. But even if she knows (without try) that sex will be great, she doesn't think that Steele will want a commitment. He is a very rich and very handsome "white boy".

But Steele has other ideas and no matter what Atlanta thinks, she will be his, and his only, forever.

A very funny story, more a chick lit than a romance: an afro-american bridget jones who meets an odino's warrior!

Seraphina is an former missionary widow who wants to open a school music in the wrong side of the town. Tomas is a spanish-american self-made construction firm owner who wants to pull down the mansion where Sera wants to open her school.

But when Sera, thirty one years old virgin (her missionary dead husband was only a name husband...), meets Tomas, twenty five latino lover with a reputation of womanizer not always deserved, their projects change.

Tomas asks Sera to marry him and to introduce him to the up society. In exchange Sera wants her school and wants... sex. But Tomas wants something more from his wife, even if he thinks he isn't good enough for her: she is so cultured and delicate, she sure doesn't want a rough latino lover like him as husband.

Another book I was expecting more erotic and less romantic, and instead it is a over romantic love story with a male character who cries: Tomas is a man you wants to hug.

This is a romance that is much more better of what you can think reading the blurb. The blurb describes the story of a mail order bride very willing to acclompish the kinky desires of his new husband; so you can buy it thinking to read a dirty novel about wild sex in bed and not only... and maybe I bought it for this reason :-)

Instead this is a sweet tale about a lonely widow, Giovanni, John, with a big heart and a big body. He has had an hard life, and you can think that also is behaviour is hard, but instead he is only worried to not be good enough for his new wife.

Mariana is sent to John from Italy to take the places of her older sister, died few weeks after her marriage with John. She is a little thing with a strong attitude and a gentle soul. John is not an handsome man, he is tough and has a ugly scar on the face, but Mariana can see behind, sees the tender man. And also she can feel him, by night: John is always caring and makes love to her, not only sex.

John is a very passionate man, and makes love to Mariana in every way an nineteen century man could think (if he hasn't read the Kamasutra), but always with the thought to not displeasure Mariana.

Indeed this romance is very "traditional", like an Historical Harlequin with a little more sex.

The Trouble with Allie by Lisa Andel

Allie is an elf with some problem with her selfness. She don't know what she want to be and what she can do with her life. So T, her best friend and sometimes lover, tell her to go on a quest.

Rainth is a werecat who agrees to be her keeper. Immediately the heat between the two lead them to a blowminding sex. Soon Rainth can't imagine to live without Allie. But the quest of Allie is not finished...

In her quest Allie will go bed with: her best friend T, her keeper Rainth, a man she meets in a club, Justin, the second in command of Rainth, Derek, the mage who help her, Dark... but in the end who will be the man she choose for the life?

Lisa Andel has the gift to describe her heroine in a funny way that make them very nice and even if you think that sex is better with love (like me), you can't resist to find them beautiful. And like in the other book I have read, McIntyre&Coventry, the heroine take the stage, and the hero sometimes seems out of place, like a voyerist of the life of the heroine.

Do you want sex without string attachments? Or better do you want funny sex for the sake of sex and a man that wants a commitment and a woman who wants to thinks about it? Then you have to read McIntyre & Coventry.

TJ and Rand know each other from childhood. At 15 years old TJ falls in love for Rand, but hers brothers (5!!!) threaten Rand to castrate him if only he tries to touch her and so TJ and Rand remain good friends and eventually became partners in an PI agency.

But one day TJ realizes she has her hands full of the Rand's women and she decides to take her revenge: she will get laid with every man she likes and hell with Rand. But Rand has other ideas... he is in love with her and he will try anything to hold her (because for the matters to have her... he has her many times and in many way...)

Only a little problem: it seems that TJ goes to bed with every beautiful eyes she meets...

This is a very funny and relaxing book, I recommend to who wants to read an erotic book with a lightly smile on his face.

Kyrin and Daeshen are two men of the Ta'e'sha people, very similar to humans but with the capacity to shapeshift like a merman. In their planet a virus has caused that all the women are sterile, so the Ta'e'sha men have decided to take humans women as brides. Only a little problem, they don't ask to the chosen before the mating. And kidnap them.

Kyrin and Daeshen are also lovers. But in the Ta'e'sha tradition, a family could be of six people, no matters what sex. So they decide to take a humans woman as bride, Theadora, to bear their children.

Kyrin is strong and commanding, Daeshen gentle and analytic. The two match perfectly together and soon also Thea finds her place in this strange family. Thea has been always fascinated by the myth of the sea people and have two of them as husbands are her dreams come true.

The book starts like a sex marathon. Kyrin and Daeshen are two dom and they really impose their attention to Thea. The sex is beautiful and very arousing, but in the first part of the book I can't find Thea. Her figure is faint. She has no voice. Fortunately, she grows strong and finally I discover a sassy woman with a cheerful behaviour.

Ohoh... this is really a very original romance: we have two main characters, one psycotic and the other stupid!

Bob is a 35 years old man with a problematic past: he was sexual abused by his mother and has witnessed the continuuing cheating of his father. Now he is a man who noone woman would want: he thinks sex is like an exercise to make with every women he meets. When his aunt died leaving a legacy to him of 20 millions dollars only if he will be married and fathered in 9 months, he gets married with the first woman he finds: Kayla.

Kayla is a 25 years old secretary who is in nearly bankrupt cause her shopaholism... when Bob proposes to her to marry him about an hour after their first encounter, Kayla doesn't see any problem to say yes.

But Bob is like a maniac: he wants a perfect house, a perfect wife and he wants sex, every moment, in every place and in every position... and the only thought of Kayla is that is an "unconfortable" situation...

I don't know if was Ayn Amorelli's intention to write a comic romance, but, in the end, I only can classify this romance like humoristic: I have never seen two most imperfect characters like those two... so imperfect that I really like them.

Megan is a 23 years old copy editor who wants to be a reporter. So she thinks to make an article about hustlers, street boys who sold sex to live. She meets Mouth, a 17 years old guy without family and homeless, who help her to write her article. Mouth is different from other boys, he is much stronger and has a focus in his mind: to save enough money to change his life and go to the college. Mouth is obvously a nickname, cause he is good to do blowjobs, but, even if his customers are only guy, he is not gay. And he likes Megan. And Megan too.

So, when Sean, his real name, is beaten and robbed by some thugs, Megan decides to take him home with her: but can they work a way to stay together, even if everything and everyone are against them?

Good romance, but I feel like the authors are held in way to simple the matters of the hustlers: after one year of that life, Sean is so secure and strong... I don't know if it is possible in the real life.

Alyson ia a 35 years old English's teacher that falls in love with the son of her best friend, Tom. There is only a little problem... Tom is 15 years old.

Alyson sometime is lonely and when mets Tom, after few years she doesn't see him, she finds a person with a mind much older of his age, and she can talk with him of everything, except sex. Cause she can't think to him and sex, cause he is 15 years old and this thing is illegal.

But Tom makes a first move and Alyson rejects him: she can't. But Tom waits, and when he is sixteen, returns to her... and claims her.

It's strange, but the character stronger and surer in this romance is Tom. He doesn't have dubts, he is sure of his feelings, and, in the end, he finds every solution... Alyson, on the other end, is uncertain and weak, has many dubt and doesn't have answers...

For me is really difficult to image to fall in love with a 15 years old guy, but Dianne Highbridge has described the character of Tom so wonderfully that you can't not fall in love with him
