Six Degrees of Lust by Taylor V. Donovan

I remember I talked about this novel back in March with the author and she told me that this has to really be read as a whole series, that book 1 alone is only part of a more complex plot. At the time I didn't entirely realize it, also since this book alone is almost 400 pages long, a considerable lenght for today novels. Now, after the marathon it was this reading I totally understand, and I have to be true, I was a little upset with the author, but I was warned and indeed I was aware of her plans, so everything is fine, I really loved both story than characters, main and supporting as well.

There is a mystery, and Sam, one of the main characters, is investigating, but even if the mystery plot is a huge and important connector for all people involved in the story, it's not stealing the scene to the romance between Sam and Mac. At first glance you would say Mac has to be the macho man of the story; true it's Sam who has the dangerous and dark career, an FBI agent, but he is more the nerdy type, the one who got in more for his brain than is body strenght (as it has to be in those agencies); wherelse Mac has this puppy attitude, like a big, goofy labrador, who doesn't want anything else but be loved, you can really do big damage to this man if you don't treat him well, since he is open and big heart.

As Sam well highlights, while it seems that Mac is letting Sam leading their relationship, he is actually topping him from the bottom, managing to obtain everything he wants just being open and willing with his love, Sam has no courage to disappoint the man.

I'm pretty sure I will have to read book 2 in the series soon, since these characters go beneath your skin, and you would want to know more about them, their lives and the realization of their dreams.

251) Natasha Holme - Lesbian Crushes and Bulimia
Sold by: Amazon Digital Services, Inc.
Amazon Kindle: Lesbian Crushes and Bulimia: A Diary on How I Acquired my Eating Disorder

The only book to present a diary account of living as a lesbian with an eating disorder, this work is endorsed by Helena Whitbread, Editor of The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister, as "a compelling read." A true story set in 1989, nineteen year old Natasha, obsessively in love with her former school teacher Miss Williams, struggles with her infatuations with women. Having sex with boys, she earns the condemnation of gay and straight worlds. Feeling too fat to deserve romantic involvement with another girl, Natasha stops eating. This is a coming out story and a love story which takes place one year after the infamous Section 28 was introduced, according to which it was not permitted to "promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship." The book describes in detail Natasha's clumsy attempts at heterosexuality, the obsessive clinging to unrequited love, her embracing of sexual harassment, and her dysfunctional relationship with body image and food.

Author Lukas Hand has collected stories of just these brief trysts, the ones we've all had--or wished we'd had--that meet at the crossroads of guilt and passion, repression and ardor. By Perry Brass, the acclaimed author of How to Survive Your Own Gay Life, Carnal Sacraments, The Substance of God, Warlock, and Ippy-Award Gold Medalist The Manly Art of Seduction comes a novel in the setting of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, in the Man Men period. "Perry Brass is a literary polymath who enthralls readers no matter the genre." Richard Labonte, syndicated book columnist, Book Marks King of Angels is a novel about the difficult and often tragic relationship of fathers and sons, or about one particular father and his attachment to his son, and his son s own unwavering attachment to him, despite scandals, secrets, and problems, and everything that will hold them apart, and yet keep them together forever. It is a coming-of-age story not just of one boy, but of a culture and an emerging gay community. It is the story of Benjamin Rothberg, a 12-year-old master of shape-shifting, of changing identities while steadfastly grasping the unique features of his own. The child of a marriage between a handsome Northern Jewish father and a classic-WASP-beauty Southern mother, Benjamin must change identities from Jewish to non-Jewish, from being a smart, precocious self-aware kid to masquerading and passing as a regular boy, from growing into a sexually curious (and possibly gay) young man to experiencing a fragile adolescent innocence, almost in love with a pretty girl. Set in Savannah, Georgia, during the tumultuous Kennedy years, King of Angels explores the role of Southern Jews in the still-segregated South, the explosive race relations and racial consciousness of this era, and the emergence of a genuine gay community with its own honest, outsider viewpoint. It is also a realistic story of the underground world of boys who must fool their parents and each other in order to achieve any form of unguarded closeness. As a half-Jew attending Holy Nativity, a Catholic military school in Savannah, Benjy will form some of the most important friendships of his life, and experience the full brutality of boys bullying each other. He will also become aware of many forms of seduction and attraction: the seductions of a secret sexual life in the school, the seductions of his own heart taken with a quiet handsome Puerto Rican male student, and the attractions of the Spirit itself in all of its revealed forms. This is truly a novel about the mysterious origins of identity and belief, in a questioning heart and questioning time, while growing up in the changing South in the early 1960s.

Brad is great at meeting other people’s expectations. But his own? Not so much. Take the gay thing. Okay, so yeah. He hasn’t quite determined how to come out to anyone, even Sebastian, the geeky-hot TA in his history class. Sebastian is everything Brad is not. Intellectual, suave, hairy. Out. And he doesn’t seem interested in Brad, even when Brad makes a fool of himself trying to catch his notice. Score one for foolery: Sebastian does more than notice Brad; he takes him to bed. Brad’s been with plenty of girls, but with Sebastian, the sex is something else entirely—hot, mind-blowing, affirming, and a little domineering in a way that drives him wild. But when great sex turns into something more—dare he admit the “L” word?—Brad must face the crushing realization that Sebastian doesn’t feel the same. Unless, of course, he does. SAIL AWAY is a collection of short stories giving the supporting cast in Will and Davy's saga a little time on center stage-as well as shorter interludes between Will and Davy that were never intended as part of a longer story. Captain Smith was once a hot-headed young officer who met his match in the Colonies; Davy's cousin Kit, who plays an important role in WINDS OF CHANGE, owes a considerable debt to the captain and crew of HMS Calypso...and in that same story, the reader meets a certain French physician who turns up again in EYE OF THE STORM. Sit back and enjoy a journey through the family album of the Royal Navy Series universe! For Cynthia Lancaster and newly-promoted Commander Paul Smith, it's love at first sight, but Cynthia has been promised to her father's protégé, the lackluster Mr. Evelyn Humboldt. But a young man on his way to Admiral is not about to let formalities come between them-and a young woman who has been pining to return to England has no interest in moving north with the Loyalists and a man she will never love. Revolution is brewing in the Lancaster household as well as the Colonies in "Captain's Courtship." Christopher St. John hadn't planned on staying in Paris until he met the unforgettable Zoe Colbert. Unable to pull himself away, Kit loses his heart to Zoe and nearly loses his life when a bloodthirsty French citizen takes exception to a despised aristo courting a French girl. It's turnabout with their lives on the line when the lady has to save her rescuer from the mob. If Kit is to "See Paris and Live," he must trust to love and pray to Lady Luck. He's an Archangel, commander of Heaven's legions of Seraphim, and despite his apparently easy virtue, he's harboring a serious crush on his superior officer, Michael. The faeries at the bottom of the garden are coming back—with an army. Under the Hill, Part 1. When Ben Chaudhry is attacked in his own home by elves, they disappear as quickly as they came. He reaches for the phone book, but what kind of exterminator gets rid of the Fae? Maybe the Paranormal Defense Agency will ride to his rescue. Sadly, they turn out to be another rare breed: a bunch of UFO hunters led by Chris Gatrell, who—while distractingly hot—was forcibly retired from the RAF on grounds of insanity. Shot down in WWII—and shot forward seventy years in time, stranded far from his wartime sweetheart—Chris has been a victim of the elves himself. He fears they could destroy Ben’s life as thoroughly as they destroyed his. Chris is more than willing to protect Ben with his body. He never bargained for his heart getting involved. Just when they think there’s a chance to build a life together, a ghostly voice from Chris’s past warns that the danger is greater than they can imagine. And it may take more than a team of rank amateurs to keep Ben—and the world—out of the elf queen’s snatching hands…

Drug dealers aren't always on the streets; sometimes they sit in offices and boardrooms, selling merchandise in official-looking bottles instead of little cellophane bags... When given a choice between eight more years in prison or using his 'expertise' to assist the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau's Department of Diversion Prevention and Control, convicted drug trafficker Richmond 'Lucky' Lucklighter takes the sentence with the illusion of freedom. Cynical and unwilling to admit he's begun to care about his job, he counts the days until his debt is paid. His sole obstacle to getting his life back is the rookie he's assigned to train before he leaves--a rookie who quotes pharmacy texts, hasn't paid his dues, and has the obnoxious tendency of seeing the good in everyone, including the target of their investigation. Former Marine Bo Schollenberger dreamed of becoming a pharmacist, but watched the dream turn into a nightmare of PTSD-fueled prescription drug abuse. Battling his demons daily, he wakes up every morning, wondering, 'Will this be the day I give in?' To keep his license, he must now put his skills to use for a diversion control task force, deal with a crude partner with too much attitude and no brain-to-mouth filter, and take down a drug lord who reminds him of his favorite cooking show hostess. The bad guys don't stand a chance--if Lucky and Bo don't strangle each other first...

Give me six months, and I'll give you the world. Brandon McKinney has scraped and sacrificed for what little in life he’s ever had. Though it’s been fifteen years since he escaped his father’s abuse, the damage remains. Trust seems as far out of reach as his dream of becoming an architect, and though he’s come to accept being gay, he can’t deny the shame and confusion he feels at other urges—the deeply-repressed desire to submit. Jonathan Watkins is a self-made Silicon Valley billionaire whose ex-wife took half his money and even more of his faith. Comfortable as a Dominant but wary of being hurt again, he resorts to anonymous pickups and occasional six-month contracts with subs seeking only a master, not a lover. When a sizzling back-alley encounter cues Jonathan in to Brandon’s deep-seated submissive side, he makes the man an offer: Give me six months of your life, and I’ll open your eyes to a whole new world. Brandon doesn’t care about that; all he wants is the three million dollars Jonathan’s offering so he can buy the construction company he works for. But he soon learns that six months on his knees is no easy feat, and shame and pride may keep him from all he ever wanted—and all he never dreamed he had any right to have.

Tijuana-the melting pot of Mexico, the gateway to the U.S., the armpit of Baja California. Two million souls struggle for survival, each searching for a way to become...something, anything better. Fate brings a few strangers together one night in a crowded taxi rojo. When the red taxi crashes down a canyon, it creates a connection between the passengers that, like the international border within sight of the crash, draws a line between triumph and defeat, hopelessness and perseverance, life and death. Boyfriends Rigo and Cristian confront their demons when a supposedly innocuous tryst gets out of control. Pancha looks for love in a complex world of ambiguous gender and sexual identity. Toni's biggest problem is self-acceptance in a culture that has ingrained in him the idea that real men are macho and self-sufficient. Julia's faith is challenged as she toils to make a living and support her disabled sister, while feeling paralyzed by her sense of responsibility and lingering guilt. Even in Tijuana, light can be found in the darkness. Facing fears and giving of oneself pave the road to strength and freedom, while stubbornness and denial lead only to demise.

Ranch hand Tommy Prout thinks he's in love ... with his boss, Hal Bolstrum. Problem is, Hal's engaged to be married to the ranch owner's daughter and, though he knows of Tommy's crush, he sees it as nothing more than harmless affection. When payday rolls around and the other cowboys want to ride into town to check out the girls at the Wildhorse saloon, Tommy tags along to throw off any suspicion anyone might have about his feelings for his boss. He sure as hell doesn't want to spend his money on any of the soiled doves the town has to offer. At the bar he meets Lila, an enterprising young working girl who takes a liking to him. When Tommy says he wants to be left alone, Lila suggests he rest in her room -- with the promise they don't have to actually do anything. But Lila isn't like the others, and when she discovers Tommy is more scared of her than attracted to her feminine charms, she lets him in on a little secret. Lila's real name is Stephen Marsh. He lives as a woman, moving from saloon to saloon, pleasing men for money. He loves men and enjoys his work, and what others don't know about what's under his skirt doesn't bother him. In all his years on the prairie, he's never met someone quite like Tommy. When he discovers Tommy is sweet on Hal, he suggests teaching the cowboy just how to please a man. He doesn't mean to lose his heart to Tommy in the process. With "Lila" in his life, Tommy begins to dream of someone softer than Hal, someone pretty when dolled up but still man enough where it counts. Someone like Lila. As his feelings deepen, can he use Lila's own teachings to win the heart he really loves?
