Gabe's Alpha (Dark Hollow Wolfpack 4) by Shannon West

At first, Gabe’s Alpha seemed yet another topping from the bottom, omega versus Alpha plot. The main difference was the viciousness that was Gabe’s turning into a shifter, being raped and witnessing his mother’s murder. But as soon as Gabe met Zack, there was the comfort feeling of knowing what was happening, omega meets Alpha and they live happily ever after. Only that, instead of doing it out of love, to Gabe was more a way to avoid yet another painful shifting into a feral half man-half wolf, a creature he is not able to control. Accepting Zack’s rule and the pack’s life is not something that comes easy to Gabe and he will fight Zack over every simple decision.

There were many common elements to the usual topping from the bottom plot, but the author managed to make them being right for Gabe’s character, an independent man but also easy to lighten up like a little firecracker, to a point he sometime is able to recognize he went to much over to a point where is too late to come back, like the night his mother was killed, when he was sulking over some stupid argument.

Actually I think Gabe is still really young, not yet fully formed into a grown man; Gabe will change in the future, maybe becoming more settled and aware of the implications of his own actions, but I think he will also preserve this independent streak that will always cause Zack is headaches. But I also think Zack is welcoming them for the chance to have Gabe in his life.

Christian Louboutin & Louis Benech

Christian Louboutin (born 7 January 1963) is a French footwear designer whose footwear has incorporated shiny, red-lacquered soles that have become his signature. Landscape architect, Louis Benech, has been his partner since 1997. Louboutin and his partner spend time between their homes in Paris' 1st arrondissement, a fisherman's cottage in Lisbon, a palace in Aleppo, a houseboat on the Nile christened Dahabibi-my love boat, and a house in Luxor. The Luxor domicile is a former craftsman's workshop, made of earthen bricks, to which he has added an additional floor and a rooftop belvedere. Additionally, he shares a 13th-century castle in the Vendée with his business partner Bruno Chamberlain.

Louboutin was born and raised in Paris' 12th arrondissement. He was the only son of Roger, an ébeniste (cabinet-maker), and Irene, a homemaker. His parents are French and he has three sisters. He also has Cameroonian ancestors. Louboutin said in a 2012 interview that he was "much darker-skinned than everyone else in his family. You know, I felt I wasn't French. My family was very French and so I decided they had probably adopted me. But instead of feeling it was terrible and that I was an outsider who had to go and find my real family, I invented my own history, full of characters from Egypt because I was very into the pharaohs."

Louboutin was expelled from school three times and ran away from home at the age of 12, at which point his mother allowed him to move out to live at a friend's house. He faced much opposition when he decided to drop out from school. However, he claims that what helped him make up his mind was an interview on TV with Sophia Loren, in which she introduced her sister, saying she had to leave school when she was only 12, but when she turned 50, she got her degree. He later remarked, "Everybody applauded! And I thought, 'Well, at least if I regret it I'm going to be like the sister of Sophia Loren!'"

Richard Hunt (August 16, 1951 – January 7, 1992)

Richard Hunt (August 17, 1951 – January 7, 1992) was an American puppeteer, best known as a Muppet performer. Hunt's Muppet roles included Scooter, Beaker, Janice, Statler, and Sweetums.

Hunt was born in The Bronx, New York City on August 16, 1951, the second of five children. The family eventually moved to Closter, New Jersey some years later.

Because everyone in his family had worked in show business at some point, Hunt always felt he would end up in entertainment as well. While in middle school and high school, he put on puppet shows for local children, and he was a fan of the then-fledgling Muppets from a young age. After high school graduation and a four-month stint of doing weather reports at a local radio station, Hunt pursued a meeting with Jim Henson.

After being hired to work on Sesame Street, Hunt mostly performed background characters in early specials. One of his first major performances was as Taminella Grinderfall in The Frog Prince, puppeteering the character while Jerry Juhl performed the voice. In Thomas & Friends he voiced James the Red Engine for two seasons.

He also did Scooter and shared Miss Piggy with Frank Oz until the final quarter of the first season of The Muppet Show. Hunt performed many characters on Sesame Street, including Forgetful Jones, Placido Flamingo, Don Music, Gladys the Cow, Sully, and an early version of Elmo. On Fraggle Rock, Hunt's main role was the performing the facial expressions and voice of Junior Gorg, but he also performed Gunge (one of the Trash Heap's barkers), and several one-shot or minor characters.

Billy Merrell is an American author and poet. He published his first book Talking in the Dark, a poetry memoir, in 2003. He also co-edited The Full Spectrum for Knopf Books with David Levithan. Merrell lives in Brooklyn with his husband Nico Medina. "On April 1, 2007, I asked Nico to marry me by performing the final proposal monologue I had been writing for weeks prior. He said yes, and we exchanged vows in the yard of his childhood home in Winter Park, Florida, on October 18, 2008."

Chester Kallman & W.H. Auden: http://reviews-and-ramblings.dreamwidth.org/3422101.html

In 1939 W.H. Auden met the poet Chester Kallman, who became his lover for the next two years (Auden described their relation as a "marriage" that began with a cross-country "honeymoon" journey). In 1941 Kallman ended their sexual relationship because he could not accept Auden's insistence on a mutual faithful relationship, but he and Auden remained companions, sharing houses and apartments from 1953 until Auden's death. Kallman died less than two years after Auden, seemingly of a broken heart.

James Holmes & Ned Rorem: http://reviews-and-ramblings.dreamwidth.org/3997134.html

James Holmes, an organist and choir director, was Ned Rorem's companion of more than 30 years. In Rorem’s diaries, James Holmes was known as JH, and on many occasions Rorem mentioned how great his dependency on JH was. Eventually, Holmes was diagnosed HIV positive, and after a great struggle with Rorem by his side, Holmes died of AIDS in 1999. Rorem described the struggle that he and JH faced in his publication, Lies. This haunting work shows the despair and brutality of watching a lover die.
