Twenty years ago the UK’s water supply was contaminated with an experimental pathogen, Lycanaeris, causing widespread panic across the nation. Terrorism was suspected but never proven, and when nothing happened--no epidemic, no unexplained illnesses--the whole episode was written off as an elaborate hoax. But Lycanaeris was selective. Only those of a certain age, and with a specific gene in their DNA were infected. Time would reveal the pathogen’s true nature, when those susceptible grew up Altered. Daniel is one of thousands forced to hide his altered status by living a quiet life. He’s not like the others, though. Daniel can’t help looking so distinctive or being able to see every altered for what they really are. To those abducting altereds, that skill makes him valuable. For Jordan, shifting from human to wolf means living under the radar to avoid unwanted attention. Meeting Daniel complicates matters. Daniel’s existence is a threat to Jordan and his friends, but Jordan can’t seem to shake the strange connection between them. When danger threatens, there’s little time for Daniel and Jordan to work out their feelings before lives are at stake.

This book captivated me from the moment I picked it up.  The writing, the characters, and the plot were all well crafted.

This is the first book in a new series and I cannot wait to see what will follow.  The author really pulled me into the world she created and I love the new twist that she used for the making of her shifters.

When two young Amish men find love, will they risk losing everything?

In a world where every detail of life--down to the width of a hat brim--is dictated by God and the all-powerful rules of the community, two men dare to imagine a different way. At 18, Isaac Byler knows little outside the strict Amish settlement of Zebulon, Minnesota, where there is no rumspringa for exploration beyond the boundaries of their insular world. Isaac knows he'll have to officially join the church and find a wife before too long, but he yearns for something else--something he can't name.

Dark tragedy has left carpenter David Lantz alone to support his mother and sisters, and he can't put off joining the church any longer. But when he takes on Isaac as an apprentice, their attraction grows amid the sweat and sawdust. David shares his sinful secrets, and he and Isaac struggle to reconcile their shocking desires with their commitment to faith, family and community.

Now that they've found each other, are they willing to lose it all?

Beautiful coming of age tale set in a world that couldn't be more confining for a gay young man.  I loved both main characters and needed the second book as soon as I finished this one.

Vocal Growth: Book Two

Ex-boyband member Dane Karlson is struggling to overcome an eating disorder and a body dismorphic disorder. His fall through a glass table puts him in rehab and on the road to recovery. Then a friend dies. When depression causes him to lose ground, he calls for the only person he trusts—former bandmate Tommy. But Tommy doesn’t know how to help. He begs his friend Sebastian “Bas” Axelrod to aid them through the emotional struggle.

Bas, an openly gay high school student who’s recently lost his grandmother, is trying to survive his last few months of school before escaping to Stanford. Having just lost the only person in his family to care for him, he is victim to the cruelty of the others. His younger brother bullies him, and his parents are suing him for his gran's inheritance. When Tommy calls, Bas can’t help but run to his side.

Together Dane and Bas find a middle ground, supporting each other through the lows, dancing together during the highs. They build friendships and plan for the prom and graduation, thinking positively as long as they are together.

This sequel stands on its own.  It examines mental health and eating disorders in a kind and responsible way.  It also examines how hard it can be to be a teen and to be different. Beautifully written.

Spartan Love: Book One

The Epics of Apollo's Men

Alone, Andreas toils on a remote farmstead for a Spartan overlord. When a kryptes enters his world, Andreas fears for his life. The dread warriors stalk and kill helots-like Andreas' father-as part of their training.

Andreas sees only one way to save himself: he must tame the fearsome warrior.

But what began as self-preservation develops into attraction. Yearning for the company of someone other than his ferret, Ictis, Andreas decides to trust the Spartan warrior and risk the fate that claimed his father.

Born to rule by the sword, Theron sees the world as his and acts accordingly, taking everything Andreas offers and reaching for more. However, love between men in Sparta is considered shameful and requires either exile or suicide to redeem Sparta's honor. Now, only the gods can save them from the terrible price Sparta extracts from men who desire other men.

A very unique historical romance that is very rich in the setting and the background, one can tell the author has done her research.  The setting of the story is almost half of the story! Despite some of the characters' inner monologue being a bit repetitive and tiresome, this has been a fascinating read and perfect for its time and place.  I can't help caring for and rooting for the lovers to overcome their difficulties.  A memorable story that makes me wanting more when it's finished.

With two out, loud and proud mothers, plump and clumsy Lily is miserable in fifth grade where bullies torment her on the playground and in class. The two girls find one another, each relieved to have a friend, especially one who understands living in a rainbow family. Lily As their families grow close and their circle of friends expand, everything is great until old lies and blackmail catch up with them.

Clara is kidnapped. Her two dads move fast, the police even faster, but her best friend must be the quickest of all. Will Lily be in time to save Clara's life or will her best, first, and for a time her only friend be killed? Everything comes down to the awkward girl's speed. How fast can Lily run when a life is on the line?

A wonderful story.  A must read for children with same sex parents.  Real life situations with characters that are well developed.

This is a so enjoyable and heartfelt read, the author writing style is so good that I surely will follow her in her future works. I loved how realistic and sincere this story is and felt. And to think that is a debut novel make this book even more amazing. Well done!
