Confident businessman Joel Rhodes sees the small California town of Lavender Shores as nothing more than a business opportunity and a final stepping stone to the position he’s been working toward his entire life. It was supposed to be just one night in town to close the deal, and sleeping with one of the local men, no matter how gorgeous, meant nothing more than a few hours of fun. Andrew Kelly is perfectly content with the life he has in his hometown. So much so that the only thing missing is someone to share it with. Going to bed with a tourist was never meant to be the answer to his dreams, just a beautiful distraction. He could get back to looking for Mr. Right the next day. Both Andrew’s and Joel’s worlds are turned upside down when a few hours of pleasure get extended to a couple of days. Even that shouldn’t have been a big deal. You can’t fall in love in that amount of time. That isn’t how it works. However, if destinies collide, a few short days may be all it takes to find your soul mate. Even so, when secrets and motivations get tangled, fate may do nothing more than leave two hearts in pieces.

2017 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Peter Darling Austin Chant

1) Having not read the blurb, I loved the dawning realization that Peter was, in fact, Wendy through the author's skilful prose. This book is a wonderful reimagining of both the traditional Peter Pan story and the original cast of characters. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Ten years ago, Peter Pan left Neverland to grow up, leaving behind his adolescent dreams of boyhood and resigning himself to life as Wendy Darling. Growing up, however, has only made him realize how inescapable his identity as a man is. But when he returns to Neverland, everything has changed: the Lost Boys have become men, and the war games they once played are now real and deadly. Even more shocking is the attraction Peter never knew he could feel for his old rival, Captain Hook—and the realization that he no longer knows which of them is the real villain.

2017 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Eli Easton Falling Down

1) Wow, what a great book! Smoothly flowing, seemingly effortless narrative, strong characters, subtle symbolism, a dark topic handled well and with respect for the characters, all wrapped up in excellent writing. Despite the heavy topic(s), it was a joy to read, and I can't give higher praise than that.
2) I loved the setting and character development in this story.

Josh finds himself homeless at eighteen, but he has a plan. He’ll head north on the bus to New England and spend October there for his mother’s sake. She always talked about going to see the fall leaves someday. And when the leaves are done and the harsh winter comes, Josh plans to find a place to curl up and let go. It will be a relief to finally stop fighting.

Mark spent his life trying to live up to the tough swagger of his older brothers until he pushed himself so far against his nature that he cracked. Now a former Marine, he rents a little cabin in the White Mountains of New Hampshire where he can lick his wounds and figure out what to do with the rest of his life. One thing was clear: Mark was nobody’s hero.

Fate intervenes when Josh sets up camp under a covered bridge near Mark’s cabin. Mark recognizes the dead look in the young stranger’s eyes, and he feels compelled to do something about it. When Mark offers Josh a job, he never expects that he’ll be the one to fall.

The snow is coming soon. Can Mark convince Josh that the two of them can build a life together before the flurries begin?

2017 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Dangerous Urges Konrad Hartmann

1) Oh, my! These stories are dark, decadent, and oh-so dangerous, with wondrously damaged characters to match. They are almost too well-written for such perverse material, but I love what they add to the genre.
2) Again, some stories were better than other and I found myself drawn more so to some characters. Though as a whole the book was a good read.
3) Konrad Hartmann's excellent writing brings us a collection of authentic supernatural and horror stories. If you prefer dark, hedonistic, and perverse, this unique and finely crafted erotica is for you.

There are twisted alleys and dark corners in the world, the sorts of places most people never go, much less go looking for sex. But some people have urges light just can’t satisfy. From the master of horror erotica, Konrad Hartmann, comes Dangerous Urges -- an anthology of seven stories about the kinds of people who can only get what they need from shadowy places. Dangerous Urges starts with a modern tale of abuse, primal lusts, and recovery and ends with ancient Roman nobles with tastes more depraved than Caligula’s. In between these, you’ll encounter grave robbers, shark fanciers, mad patriarchs, eldritch abominations, and even a relatively ordinary necrophiliac. Follow Konrad Hartmann down a dark alley, and see what he has to show you back there. We promise you an unforgettable experience. Beyond that… You can’t say we didn’t warn you.
