Born as Jason Matthew Simmons in Hobart, Tasmania, he first began acting in 1993 with a role on the short-lived Australian series Paradise Beach. After building up an impressive resume he moved to NEW YORK CITY to star in the one man show RUM & VODKA written by Conor Mcpherson. This was a huge success and led to recordings for HBO and NBC. And after several Regional (including The Cleveland Playhouse) and Off Broadway successes (La Mama, The Irish Repertory Theatre, Primary Stages, Manhattan Theatre Club, etc,) and landing the same agent as Jack Nicholson he moved WEST to Los Angeles where actors go to die. John travels between Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Vancouver. His life resembles a circus at times as he travels with his son Odin and dog Charlie.
