BEN TYLER (aka as authors R.T. JORDAN and RICHARD TYLER JORDAN) has crafted many books including the Hollywood bashing TRICKS OF THE TRADE, as well as the naughty but eye-popping works HUNK HOUSE, GAY BLADES and ONE NIGHT STAND.
Raised in Peabody, Massachusetts, Jordan escaped at age 19, and has blissfully lived in Los Angeles ever since. After attending UCLA, he began his Hollywood career at The Walt Disney Studios. Twenty-five years later, he’s still “Part of the magic.” He tactfully says, “It’s been an E-Ticket ride,” (Does anyone remember what an E-Ticket means?!)
Although Jordan is proud of all his published children, he does play favorites with his Polly Pepper mystery titles. The books in this “cozy” comedy series include REMAINS TO BE SCENE, FINAL CURTAIN, A TALENT FOR MURDER, and SET SAIL FOR MURDER (which will be in bookstores in June). He wants his favorite comedienne Lily Tomlin to play the internationally beloved former musical/comedy television diva-turned-amateur-sleuth Polly Pepper in a television series based on his books.
Long before writing comical mystery novels, Jordan published the non-fiction book BUT DARLING, I’M YOUR AUNTIE MAME, the definitive history of Patrick Dennis’ iconic literary character Mame Dennis. The darker side of Jordan’s talents were evident in the Hollywood bashing TRICKS OF THE TRADE, as well as the naughty but eye-popping HUNK HOUSE, GAY BLADES and ONE NIGHT STAND, all of which his otherwise supportive mother has been warned not to read!
When not slaving for the Mouse and writing books and lecturing to groups who insist they want to write, but can’t find the time (which makes him testy), Jordan enjoys hosting intimate dinners in the Hollywood Hills mid-century home that he shares with legendary composer Billy Barnes and their pooch, Goldie.
Anyone who has ever known Jordan is well aware of his never-ending adoration for Karen Carpenter, Doris Day, Maya Angelou, Richard Bach, John Denver, and David Hyde Pierce. Oh, and bottles of Chateauneuf du Pape Vieux Telegraphe 2007, which he will gladly accept in lieu of lecturing fees.
Jordan is currently planning on becoming independently wealthy and living in a Scottish castle.
