Hard topic beautifully written. This is a love story that works on many levels--it's true to life, tough, harsh, and yet hopeful. It made me think, but most importantly it made me feel. A marvelous debut novel.

This is truly a gripping story of teenagers---one mute with an artistic gift, one damaged inside but with a beautiful spirit---but this is NOT a teenage story. There are tears, abuse, homelessness, grief, loss, more loss, and then. . .well, it is not a love story, but it IS a story about love. And sacrifice. And where home really is.

I just couldn't find anything that didn't deserve the highest rating. This is a book that will stay long with you after you finished reading it. Usually I am not such a happy end person, but for these characters I desperately needed a happy end - anything else would have been devastating. Luckily I have no experience with homelessness, but to me the descriptions of their struggles felt real and I was caring deeply for the characters.

Raw, painful, sometimes difficult to read but also fully engaging in its characters and their struggles.

This book captivated me from the first page. The writng, characterization and plot drew me in and kept me invested until the very last page. I loved this book.
