Amazon Kindle: Brass & Keys - Freshman Beginning
Blurb: Having recently broken up with his sleazeball of an ex, recent high school grad Keldon Stonebridge is a handsome guy who’s optimistic about the possibilities of the summer ahead in his beautiful hometown of Asheville, NC. He intends to fill his days working, playing his saxophone whom he calls his baby, sipping green iced tea and hanging out with friends. He’s far less optimistic about a summer romance. But then he meets the very handsome Tyler Lawrence. A fellow musician and recent high school grad himself, Tyler also enjoys losing himself in his music and conspicuously avoids speaking about his own ex at all costs. The two quickly fall in love and achieve a bond that truly transcends love and music. It’s a bond that will be greatly tested by loyalty, tragedy and more.
Excerpt:
“So...”, Tyler began after giving his boyfriend another quick, wet kiss in the ear. “How about you and go for a walk in the opposite direction towards the pier?", he suggested.
Keldon thought for a moment. He narrowed his eyes slightly. "You wouldn't be suggesting that just so you can play that arcade game again in the pier store again would you?", he asked dryly.
Tyler's eyes widened like those of a child who had just been caught with a hand in the cookie jar. “Of course not! That would be a very childish motive.”, he very innocently replied.
Keldon turned around and gave him an unbelieving look. “Yes it would. Let’s go, gameboy.”
Hand in hand, the two of them began making their way down the beach. Keldon would occasionally stop them to pick up an interesting looking seashell. After examining it carefully, he’d either toss back on the sand or keep it. The bigger ones went in one of the pockets of his windbreaker while the smaller ones stayed in his hand. He decided the ones shaped like hot dogs and others shaped liked ice cream cones were his favorites. After covering a short distance, an elderly man and woman approached them from the opposite direction. The boys nodded and smiled at them. The woman gave them a half hearted smile while the man frowned and stared at them or more specifically at their entwined hands. After they passed by, Keldon and Tyler looked at each other.
“I don’t think they liked to see two guys holding hands.”, Keldon speculated matter of factly.
With a dopey grin in place, Tyler turned and looked back at the couple momentarily before looking at his boyfriend again. He gestured at the hand in which Keldon was holding his seashells. “Maybe they envied you for your impressive shell collection.”, he joked.
