Jean Börlin was a Swedish dancer and choreographer born in Härnösand on March 13, 1893 and died in New York on December 6, 1930. He worked with Michel Fokine who was his teacher in Stockholm. Recommended by Fokine, he is engaged by the Ballets suédois, newly formed by Rolf de Maré. Börlin and Rolf de Maré met through common friend Nils Dardel in 1918, and de Maré became lover and protector. Jean Börlin died of cancer in 1930 when he was only 37 years old. Even if he died in New York he asked to be buried back in Paris, at Père Lachaise Cemetery.
